Open Book | Sabrina Hamilton

Chapter three of #OpenBook is here! If you need to catch up quickly on the first two, you can do so here.
Today, we are in the company of the amazing Sabrina Hamilton. Sabrina is 32 years old and describes herself as being “happiest when eating brunch with the girls, sitting out in the sun or reading a good book with a mug of herbal tea”. Sabrina also works in marketing within the travel industry, and of course, writes a blog!

Read on if you want to find out more about Sabrina.

Tell me about your blog

Sure. My blog is called Tipping The Scales and documents my commitment to tip the scales in favour of areas I’m passionate about. These include personal areas, such as a healthy body and mind, as well as conscious consumerism – supporting black owned and female owned businesses.

What do you blog from?

Ilford, just east of London, in the UK.

Why did you get into blogging?

The need to create something for me. I’ve worked in creative roles for over 10 years, but no matter how creative you’re being at work, you’re still ‘creating’ within the guidelines of someone else’s vision. Having a blog allowed me to carve out a little space that was just for me.

For how long have you been blogging?

I’ve blogged on and off for years! I had a beauty blog way back in the day. I’m not at all passionate about hair & beauty, but the desire to create something was strong so I just went with it. Needless to say, that blog didn’t last very long! My most recent project, Tipping The Scales has been properly going for around 8 months now. I feel like I’ve finally found the topics which excite me enough to keep writing.

Share the link to your favourite blog post to date. What is it about and why do you like it so much?

Oooo that’s a good question. I think it has to be my recent review of the Black is The New Black Exhibition. When I shared the post on social media, I had people comment and message asking for more details, thanking me for sharing and telling me that they were going to try and see it. For me, that’s what my posts are all about – promoting and sharing things I’m passionate about so I can tip the universe in their favour.

Share a blogging high, and a blogging low you’ve experienced since the beginning of your journey

Getting my first comment was a definite high. Sometimes when you’re blogging, it feels like you’re pouring your mind out with no idea if anyone is receiving it or even cares! My first comment on Tipping The Scales made me fist pump the air thinking, ‘SOMEONE CARES!!!’ A little dramatic, I know, but this blogging game can be lonely.

I haven’t had a low yet, but a definite challenge is finding content. So much of what I write about relies on me making a purchase, experiencing something or trying something new. It’s important to me to stay authentic to what my blog is about, but sometimes searching for things that interest me feels like a full-time job!

What’s the best piece of blogging advice you have ever received?

Make a plan. Behind every (seemingly) effortlessly successful blog or vlog, I guarantee there’s a multi-tabbed excel doc holding in all together. There are tonnes of free downloadable templates around so I’d absolutely recommend mapping a few things out and seeing where it takes you.

What future projects would you like to embark on as a blogger?

I’d really like to start interviewing some of the business owners and creators whose products I document and review on the blog.

Lastly Sabrina, where else can we find you?

I knew at a young age that the nasty green shot you got at the health food store or juice bar, that was followed with an orange squad (yes, an orange wedge, but I called them squads) was good for me, but I had no idea why, the same kinda follows now, except I know a few more details about it's real health benefits, because I am genuinely interested in what it provides to my overall well-being.Jogo para criança360 jogo jogario games 4 school
