Madeline’s Top Netflix Picks

Aside from reading books by women, one of my other pastimes is to enjoy an enthralling show on everyone’s favourite streaming service. With the sun playing tag these days, my preference would be to snuggle under a blanket, armed with a hot drink and a bowl of snacks whilst watching Netflix on a screen such as the 4k led tv Panasonic
But with such a busy schedule indulging in some visual entertainment during my commute to work seems like a good plan for now. If you read through some of the archives, you will see a growing collection of film reviews already on the blog. Today, I would like to discuss with you some of my hottest Netflix picks.

Here are some of my recommendations based on what I’ve watched, am currently watching or have seen trending on the timeline. Here’s what to watch.

If you love getting lost in mind-boggling documentaries

The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann unless you’ve been living under a rock or are not too familiar with UK affairs then you’ll know about the strange disappearance of three-year-old Madeleine back in 2007. The ongoing investigation which has stretched for the last twelve years has culminated in this 8 part docu-series, which revisits the night the disappearance happened with a succession of eyewitness accounts and reports from the professionals.  It also unfurls some of the originaltestimonies that were made.(Currently on episode 3 of 8)

Abducted at Plain Sight – another one which will take you through the winding paths of a disappearance mystery. This chilling documentary tells the true story of how a whole family was manipulated by a neighbour, which led to the two kidnappings of their 12-year old daughter Jan Broberg. The sickening and bizarre details of the disappearances have captivated audiences since its release back in January. (Watched!)

John has Debra entangled in Dirty John. Source Hollywood Reporter

If you’re addicted to the drama

Dirty John –  I don’t believe all men are trash, but some really are! This series is a psychological drama which adapts the true life story of interior designer Debra Newell who marries conman, John Meehan. John is a seemingly charming doctor who has it all together. But the reality is that he is slowly ensnaring Debra in his web of lies in the hopes of swindling her out of every last dollar. I was hooked from episode one, and you will be too! Make a date with the girls have a bit of a marathon with it. (Series to be completed)

Power –  this high energy, adrenaline-packed show has been going on for some years now. Currently, the creators have left us hanging somewhere between season five and six. Whilst we wait for the next series to begin let me give you a bit of background: James ‘Ghost’ St. Patrick and Tommy are friends based in New York, who launder drug money through their businesses: a night club and a launderette.  James steps outside of his marriage and begins a lewd affair with DA (district Attorney) Angela Valdez, who unbeknown to him is assigned to investigate and take down the entire drug network they work with. That’s the crux of it but there’s a lot more to unpack in five series! (Watched!)

Adaeze and uncle fight to save her father’s company in Lionheart. Source: Netflix

If you fancy a feel-good family film

Lionheart – You’ve had a chaotic day, and you just want to unwind with a pleasant film which will which lift your spirits. This is one of my fave films on Netflix to date! (Read the review here). It’s a charming movie set in Lagos, which is in short about a young lady, Adaeze, who saves her father’s company from the brink of collapse with help from her uncle. I love the film for its humour and light-hearted entertainment. It also deconstructs many myths about life in Africa. (Watched!)

The Queen Of Katwe – not your usual Disney classic, but it ought to be! Again, there is a lot to learn about empowering young people and overcoming the odds. Robert Katende runs a chess club in the slums of Kampala. When 10-year old Phiona, who lives a life of poverty becomes a member at the club, Robert leads her and the other children to play chess to win tournaments in the unlikeliest of circumstances. Phiona’s final victory opens up opportunities which lead to her lifting her family out from the trenches of poverty – a true Disney princess if you ask me! (Watched!)
There are a handful of other shows, films, documentaries and animated series I have watched and loved, and tons more I would love to delve into, but life can get hectic! What do you like to stream or watch on TV? Have you seen any of the shows I’ve listed?

When you visualize your future self, say..1 year from now..what do you see? Do you see yourself as you are now, or do you see the healthier, slimmer, happier version of you? The you that is more active and engaged in life. The you that feels good in your clothes. The you that feels limitless in your choices and opportunities. Thank goodness! While he can be wary of strangers (his previous owner was not nice to him), Finn is my shadow–never more than ten feet away…unless he's sleeping. He loves to play fetch and patrol his yard for squirrels, birds, and lawn mowers. The more mud (as evidenced in the picture), the better! He is a short boy, so his long-legged sister usually out runs him, but his energy is endless when he has the right motivation–catching Libby.kizi games 2 unblocked free game onlinefriv for school 2019
