Why Blogging May Be Good for You

Been thinking about starting a blog lately?

Blogging is a fantastic tool for so many things, and if you’re considering starting one, you shouldn’t wait any longer. Having your own blog means having a place to express yourself, your ideas and opinions. It opens up the door to having social interactions with people from all over the world based around content that you have created, or are interested in.

I for one, have made connections both on and offline through this blog. I may not have ever met many of you who are regular readers, however, I already feel a genuine connection with some of you. I have also made great contacts through my association with Black British Bloggers for example, and have even gained copywriting clients, all through blogging!

So if you do want to begin blogging but are unsure on how to get started, here are some tips for you, and advice for those of you unsure of its benefits.

How to start a blog
You might be concerned about the process of starting a blog, but it is actually a lot easier than you might think. Yes, you might have to learn some new language, but nothing that will take longer than a few minutes. So, for starters, you will need to have a premise behind your blog. Once you have a plan for what you want to write about you should look into a blogging platform like WordPress or Tumblr. If you have the skills necessary you might want to skip this step and use a website builder instead.

Once you have a platform, you have one more decision to make. These sites that offer you a space to blog will come in different varieties. Some will restrict how much you can do but offer a free blogging service. Others will allow you to self-host, which is when you pay a company to host your WordPress website, thus allowing you complete freedom over what you do. There is often an additional cost associated with self-hosting, but its benefits are great if you want total autonomy.

Want to make Money?
You are probably aware that blogging isn’t just a way to pass the time and express your ideas, it is also an opportunity to make money. Before you start going down this road, you should be aware that it isn’t as easy as starting a blog and then making cash. You will have to put the work in to build up a user base and interest. If you are just interested in the financial aspect of blogging, you might want to look into alternative ways of making money online as outlined in this Inboxdollars review. However, here are some of the ways you can use your blog to make money.

At first, you should explore advertising income, for which there are three types to consider initially. The first is cost-per-click which is self-explanatory, the number of visitors you have that click on the ad, the more money you make. Second is cost-per-impressions advertising which pays out based on a set number of visitors to your site, no click-through required. And finally is private advertising; for this final advertising venture, you will need a decent readership in order to attract external advertising. Consider starting off using an agency for the first two options like Google Adsense.

Blogging should be something that you come to naturally because of a passion for an idea or writing. You will benefit from the process, but only so long as you dedicate the effort required.

I hope this short read has been enlightening for you, and hopefully, if you have been considering starting a blog, you are now fully persuaded!

  2. I started blogging because I wanted to share my life, random thoughts and experiences with other people. I've never been looking for money when it comes to blogging, but it's something that I think I should start doing more intently.

  3. I started blogging because I wanted to share my travel adventures with my family and close friends.. The blog has grown to be a little more than that and I have met so many amazing people via the medium.
