Back Like I Never Left | Updates

I’m baaaaaaack!
In my last post, when I mentioned I would be on hiatus, I didn’t expect the time to breeze by. Honestly, three months have felt like three weeks, but true to my word, I am here. ‘So why hiatus?’ You might ask.
I’d like to be candid. Back in June, life was hectic to say the least (when is it not, eh?) but a lot was going on. I was settling into full-time work after going part-time for a while, and boy did those two extra days per week makes a difference! Secondly, I wasn’t doing too good healthwise, but thankfully your girl is on the up. Also, for those of you who have been following me on Instagram, you’ll know that I am working on a major project at the moment. Keep reading to find out what exactly what it is!  But for now here are some updates.

1. My logo has been switched up.
Can you see our little icon has had a bit of a hair makeover? Yes girl, she’s just like me, switching up her hair every so often. She now has a cute ‘fro going on, which I love! Do you like it? I think it’s more striking than what it was previously and is prim and ready for when the Madeline Wilson-Ojo brand expands. (I hope you caught that!)

2. I made some new blogger friends!
A couple of weeks ago, I attended a networking event organised by Black British Bloggers. It’s the first networking event I’ve attended in a long time. I used to frequent them but was put off by how much they overpromised and underdelivered. But this one here was everything it promised to be. Talks about blogging and business from fellow creatives who have successfully navigated the industry, a Q&A with hair and beauty brands, plus mixing with like-minded bloggers was just what my creativity needed.

3. I’ve been writing y’all.
Like, really writing! Remember in my second paragraph, I mentioned a major project? Well, what started as ‘lemme try this thing and see’ has taken on flesh, spirit and a soul. Now I am editing a whole book! It’s far from complete but would you just look at God?! The conundrum now is whether to pitch to literary agents or go down the self-publishing route. Not sure yet, but I will be posting updates periodically.

4. My portfolio has expanded.
You may know I already write for The Huffington Post, and now I write for Melan Mag! Melan Mag is an online lifestyle magazine for black women and one I had been subscribed to for a while.  I was recommended to the chief editor by a friend, and things took off from there. Whilst we’re on the subject, I would just like to encourage you to keep doing what you do because you never know who may be peeping. My mother always says ‘someone knows someone who knows someone who knows somebody.’ In short, you never know the route an opportunity will take to present itself to you.
So that’s it! Those are the key updates. If you want to know more, then you’ll have to sign up to my email list! I’ll be doing my first ever giveaway in the next couple of weeks, plus I’ll be expanding my content beyond communications and books. Thank you for being patient with me whilst I took a second to breathe. I really appreciate it.
Until next time.
